Maleah Marcatante, Texas Portrait Photographer

Who I am, and What I do

Ever since I took a photography class in my senior year of high school, I’ve loved how photography can freeze time and memories. I have always loved stories, and I think that’s part of growing up in a multi-generational and multi-cultural (Filipino-Italian American) household.

When we weren’t sharing stories with each other, we were documenting them, whether that be through our digicams or scrapbooks. And there was no quiet in my household as we would always have a movie or show playing in the background.

I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I was drawn to art. For me, documenting moments and thoughts has been essential in keeping me sane through life. They help you appreciate the moment and remind you in the future that you lived.

This philosophy can also be tied to all of my other interests. I love reading literary fiction and multi-generational sagas. Some of my favorite books are A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Pachinko, and Giovanni’s Room.

I also take a lot of inspiration from nature and love to backyard bird and hike. Some other facts are that I graduated from UT Austin in 2023 with a B.A. in Sociology; I love Animal Crossing: New Horizons; I’m an INFP and a Cancer; and I also love having a dog (my princess, Mabelle).

If you’re interested in having your stories told, let’s capture your future memories together!
